All iPhone 13 models are thicker, heavier than their predecessor iPhone 12 Series

Every time a new iPhone is released, Apple often tells users how much thinner the new iPhone models will be compared to the previous generation of iPhones. However, during the recent California Streaming event, Apple did not mention these details, but focused on new features that will be available on the iPhone 13 Series such as A15 Bionic, smaller notch, larger camera, etc.. And thanks to newly confirmed information, the iPhone 13 Series will be thicker and heavier than its predecessor iPhone 12 Series.
Specifically, Apple's iPhone 13 models have a design that is nearly identical to the iPhone 12 models, but with some slight differences in weight and thickness. Accordingly, the ‌iPhone 13‌ models are heavier than the iPhone 12 Series, which seems to be due to the larger internal battery causing the thickness to increase. Here is a weight comparison.
  • iPhone 13 mini (141 grams) vs iPhone 12 mini (135 grams)
  • iPhone 13 (174 grams) vs iPhone 12 (164 grams)
  • iPhone 13 Pro (204 grams) vs iPhone 12 Pro (189 grams)
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max (240 grams) vs iPhone 12 Pro Max (228 grams)
In terms of thickness, all iPhone 13 models are 7.65mm thick, up from 7.4mm on the iPhone 12 Series. This increase in thickness can be attributed to the increased battery capacity, but at the same time, Apple could incorporate more upgrades inside the new iPhone 13 models. For example, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are both equipped with Pro Motion screens with 120Hz refresh rates, a larger 3-camera cluster with 5G connectivity. All of that can also make the body thicker.
While the height and width of the new iPhone 13 models are the same as that of the iPhone 12 Series, the change in thickness and new design of the camera assembly means that the iPhone 12 Series' cases may not fit the ‌iPhone‌. 13‌ Series.
